This is very similar to the presentation from August 2021 that provided us with our first glimpse of the Witch Queen expansion. This event should give us our first comprehensive look at Lightfall, Destiny 2’s 2023 expansion, and the following chapter Light and Darkness Saga.

It also makes reference to the intriguing doppelganger we encountered in the Black Garden during the Beyond Light campaign. There are glimpses of notable figures with ties to the Darkness, such as raid boss Rhulk and Calus, the subject of the Season of the Haunted. Lightfall will be the third chapter in Destiny 2’s four-part Light and Darkness saga. It was originally intended to be the final one, but Bungie has since added another expansion, The Final Shape, to its roadmap. Lightfall is set to arrive in early 2023, with The Final Shape following in early 2024. Though this marks the end of Destiny 2’s current saga, Bungie has stated that the game will be supported for many years to come. PlayStation maker Sony Interactive Entertainment announced last Friday that it had completed its $3.6 billion acquisition of Bungie. Bungie has made plans to release at least one new IP by 2025 in addition to its continued work on Destiny 2.
