The game initially got mixed reviews but it left an overall good impression, and managed to bag a few achievements as well. At Gamescom 2021, Europe’s largest gaming fair, The Medium was nominated for Best Action Adventure and Best Indie Game. While there is currently no word on a potential sequel or even any kind of the DLC for The Medium. That being said, it seems that Bloober Team is not done with this universe and wants to  build upon the game’s success, with an entirely new medium now (pun intended). In a press release, today Bloober Team has announced to turn their latest horror game into a TV show in collaboration with Platige Image. Platige Image is a Polish animation and 3D studio responsible for the short film “The Cathedral.” In 2002, It was nominated for an Oscar in the short animated film category.  The Medium series based on the game will be made under the creative supervision of Tomasz Bagiński, who was also the director of ‘The Cathedral,” and his recent work is “The Witcher” series on Netflix, where he contributed as an executive producer.  Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno is very excited about the new project and hopes that the world once again experiences the story of The Medium but this time in the form of a series. In the press release, he said: Piotr Babieno also acknowledges the recent success of videogame-based animated series like Arcane and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and how these impacted the source game positively. Another Cyberpunk: Edgerunners? Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is the prime example of how an excellent animated series can have a massive impact on the game. After the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners last month, Cyberpunk 2077 was topping all the charts, whether it was about the best-selling game of the week or all-time high concurrent player count on Steam.  On top of that, the fact that the developers remained consistent with the updates and kept fixing the game’s bugs over time has also played a significant role in the game’s revival.  Twitter user @BenjiSales, who actively share the number related data about the games and their analysis, has summarized the revival of Cyberpunk 2077 very precisely:

It won’t work for everyone, but there is definitely potential with cross-media IP. Once is maybe a fluke, but twice is the real deal — Benji-Sales (@BenjiSales) September 25, 2022 If Bloober Team expects the same effect on The Medium game, they should also work on the things that were criticized by fans and critics about the game. The team working on The Medium series, no doubt, has the capabilities to produce something unique and special. Only time will tell how this will turn out for Bloober Team and their game, The Medium. After all, Bloober is also rumored to be the studio working on a Silent Hill 2 remake. Are you excited to experience the story again? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
